Welcome to Youth Ministry at St. Perpetua for high school teens! St. Perpetua’s Youth Ministry is centered around the Sacrament of Confirmation. Confirmation, the final sacrament of initiation into the Catholic Church, is an important step in one's faith journey. We intentionally focus on this sacrament as an anchor to the youth ministry at St. Perpetua.
In our Oakland Diocese, Bishop Michael Barber asks that young people seeking Confirmation participate in a two-year preparation process. Throughout this process students will gather periodically with their peers, share their faith journey with each other, learn more about what our Catholic faith calls them to do and to be, and equip them with tools and strategies to live out that faith. As students are registering for Confirmation, please note that we delineate two years--Confirmation 1 (C1) and Confirmation 2 (C2). Students can begin Confirmation 1 as early as freshman year or as late as junior year. Upon completion of Confirmation 1, students can continue with Confirmation 2, culminating in the Sacrament of Confirmation celebrated in May.
Students in Confirmation will gather 2-3 times each month on Sunday nights from 7:30-9:00pm in the Great Hall. This year students in both Confirmation 1 and Confirmation 2 will meet together. (Click on the link above to see the schedule.) They also will be expected to participate in their faith journey outside of our weekly meetings (e.g. attend Mass, participate in other parish events) as well as participate in service opportunities. Students in C2 also will attend a weekend retreat as a way to truly grow closer to their peers and to grow in their own faith.

WHAT IF I AM ALREADY CONFIRMED?
If you have already received the Sacrament of Confirmation, we would LOVE to have you continue to share your faith with your peers. You will be invited to come back to help out with Confirmation. This will give you a chance to truly live out the faith you have confirmed in the Sacrament. You may be invited to help facilitate small group meetings, give a testimony of your faith, and even help plan our events.
