Beginning in April 2002, the St. Perpetua Community has participated in a series of three Master Planning Workshops with Ratcliff and Associates. The first workshop was an exercise on potential parish space requirements, while the second workshop identified the selection of the preferred Church site. The third and final Master Planning Workshop was held on Tuesday evening, July 9th. [Click here to view Snapshots from Workshop 3.] The goals of Workshop #3 were to prioritize phases of suggested Master Plan and to identify a Building Shape (Massing) preference.
In the first section of Workshop #3, participants were provided a site plan representing all elements and the associated costs of the suggested Master Plan. Groups then reviewed the information and prioritized the elements into different phases. Attached to the specific elements were suggested costs, compiled by project estimator David Langdon Adamson. This estimate is a determination of fair market value for the construction of the specific project. It is not a prediction of low bid. Pricing assumes competitive biding for each portion of the construction work for all subcontractors and general contractors. The second section of the workshop gave participants an opportunity to view models of suggested building shape (“massing”) preferences. Discussion ensued, resulting in a group consensus preference for building shape Option #2, which represents a worship space that is octagonal in design. Interior elements of the worship space and auxiliary spaces were discussed and all comments were given to Ratcliff and Associates for further consideration.
