St. Perpetua Church
First Quarter (January – March) 2007
Financial Report
Summary
We ended the first quarter of 2007 with revenues above and expenses below budget, resulting in a better than expected overall financial result. While we’re off to a good start, we are starting to see a leveling off of revenue growth and anticipate some additional expenses during the coming quarters.
Actual 1Q07 Budget 1Q07
Income
Sundays and Holy Days Plate $140,607 $136,425
Other Unrestricted Plate $ 34,123 $ 13,500
All Other Income $ 33,294 $ 44,950
Total Income $208,024 $194,875
Expenses
Administration & Operations $167,767 $172,424
Ministries & Programs $ 34,220 $ 55,256
Other $ 7,464 $ 6,202
Total Expense $209,451 $233,882
Surplus/(Deficit) ($ 1,427) ($ 39,007)
Total revenues exceeded budget by over 6%, primarily made up of some large one-time donations. Our critical Sunday plate collections were only slightly better than expected and other income sources were below budget. While expenses were lower than budget by almost 10%, we anticipate facilities maintenance (plumbing/heating repairs) and equipment (new church sound system) expenses that will impact 2nd quarter expenses. So while we’re off to a good start in 2007, we are very mindful of swings in revenue and unanticipated expenses that could affect our ability to deliver the programs and ministries that the parish has come to expect. Bottom line: keep up your good work on the revenue side, and the Finance Council will continue to put them to good use on the expense side.
Strategic Plan
By now you have all received the Parish Strategic Plan. That document not only provides a guide for St. Perpetua’s spiritual and physical growth, but also helps the Finance Council gauge the financial impact of those goals and objectives. The Finance Council will use that plan to help forecast the revenues needed to fund those additional programs, ministries and facilities. We are excited to have this additional guidepost as we plan and monitor the financial resources for St. Perpetua now and into the future.
Thanks to Departing Members
And finally, we want to acknowledge and thank Mark Hillhouse, Tom Malanca, Ryan Svoboda, and Brian Hagerty for their past contributions to the Finance Council as they step back from active participation. Many thanks to one and all.
On behalf of Father John and the Finance Council, we wish to thank you for your continued support of St. Perpetua. Without your generous contributions we could not achieve all that has been accomplished. Keep up the good work!
