Faith Formation - First Reconciliation

OVERVIEW OF FIRST RECONCILIATION PROCESS

Parents: (Requirements)
1. Attendance at One Parent Meeting and one Adult Enrichment Session
2. Use of materials received at meetings at home for self and child
3. Weekly participation at parish Sunday liturgy with child
4. Practice of Sacrament of Reconciliation in own life as example to child
5. Participation in liturgical ministry of choice


Children: (Requirements)
1. Weekly attendance at religious education classes
2. Working at home with parents on selected materials
3. Weekly participation in parish Sunday liturgy with parents (participation in CLOW is highly recommended)
4. Family participation in Advent and Lenten Parish Communal Reconciliations


Children in 5th grade who have not received the sacrament will attend their regular 5th grade class, but will be given additional material to study at home with parents, and will meet periodically with the D.R.E. to monitor progress and understanding. This meeting will take place during regular class time. They will receive the sacrament at the same time as the 4th graders. Parents and children will have the same requirements as those in 4th grade.
