Social Justice Committee

Function
The Social Justice Committee plays a crucial role in helping the parish community act on the social justice dimensions of its overall mission by facilitating and enabling the participation of the entire parish community. The focus is on education and advocacy for justice, in contrast to the charitable activities of the parish.

All are called by God and His Word to reach out to our vulnerable sisters and brothers and to work for justice and peace. It is the task of the Social Justice Committee to help people hear their call and to find concrete ways to serve those in need and build better communities.

Structure
The committee currently is chaired by Pat Snyder. It functions with six to ten additional members.

Member Profile
Members from all segments of the parish population are welcome and valued. A passion for social justice and peace issues is helpful. Willingness to openly share viewpoints and opinions while respecting those of other members has made participation on this committee a positive experience.

Time Commitment
The Social Justice Committee meets once a month for about an hour and a half to two hours. Individual members may spend additional time on tasks defined by the committee. This seldom requires more than an hour or two between meetings.

Term of Service
The committee has functioned without set terms.

There are different ways to serve the same Lord, and we can each do different things. Yet the same God works in all of us and helps us in everything we do."
