Knights of Columbus Function The Knights of Columbus is a world-wide brotherhood of over 1.6 million Catholic men organized in more than 12,000 parish based councils, emphasizing the practice of charity, service to church and community, and promoting family life. Structure The Lafayette Council # 7683 is located at St. Perpetua but includes members from all 3 Lamorinda parishes. The council has a Grand Knight and other officers according to its charter.Council # 7683 is part of District 33 which is comprised of four councils. Our Fourth Degree members (with Color Guard) are part of the 1880 Assembly, whose contact is Mike McCosker, a member of Lafayette Council # 7683. Member Profile Membership is limited to practicing Catholic men, at least 18 years of age, whose beliefs espouse and lives proclaim the values of faith, charity, unity, fraternity, family, worshipping community and patriotism. Time Commitment Council business meetings are held the 1st Thursday of each month. Various activities such as pancake breakfasts, nationwide Tootsie Roll campaigns to help People with Intellectual Disabilities, Basketball Free-throw contests, and numerous other functions provide many opportunities to serve church, community, and council. Term of Service The officers of the council serve for one year. Membership has no term of service.
