Finance Council
Function
The Finance Council shares with the Pastor responsibility for the
financial affairs of the Parish to provide for the successful fulfillment
of the spiritual and pastoral mission of the church community. The
Council plays an active role in preparing and monitoring the Parish
budget, providing periodic financial reports to the Parish, establishing
salary scale for Parish employees, supporting the Parish business manager
and generally assisting the Pastor as steward of the Parish properties and
assets.
Structure
The
Council is composed of eleven members. The Pastor and business manager of
the Parish are permanent members. Nine lay members of the church fulfill
the remaining positions for staggered three-year terms. One of lay member
serves as chairman for a one-year term.
Member Profile
Members
should be skilled in business and have some expertise in management,
accounting and related fields.
Time Commitment
The
Finance Council meets from 7:30 PM to approximately 9:30 PM on the 3rd
Monday of each month (as modified for holidays and other conflicts).
Individual members may spend additional time on tasks as the committee may
define, including acting as liaison to other church ministries and events,
budget preparation, preparing and presenting financial reports to the
Parish, and special projects.
Term of Service
To provide
continuity, the lay members of the Finance Council are asked to serve for
staggered three-year terms.
