Baptismal Preparation Program
Function
Parents
experienced in raising their children in faith help other parents or
parents-to-be to welcome and nurture a new baby in their family and the
church family. Team members facilitate the quarterly baptismal preparation
meetings and offer their homes as the meeting place. At the actual
baptism, they guide parents and godparents and facilitate the celebration.
Structure
This
ministry currently is coordinated by Christoph Nauer. At this point it
functions with two couples, more parents are desperately needed.
Member Profile
Parents
from all segments of the parish population are welcome and valued. A love
and passion for your faith and the desire to share it with those seeking
baptism for their infants is essential. The gift to encourage participants
to openly share viewpoints, opinions and personal experiences while
respecting those of others is helpful.
Time Commitment
Team
members facilitate or host one baptismal preparation meeting a quarter. This
meeting usually lasts about an hour and a half and requires about 20 to 30
minutes of preparation time. In addition, team members need to be present
at the baptisms to guide parents and godparents and facilitate the
celebration.
Term of Service
The
committee has functioned without set terms.

There are different ways to serve the same Lord,
and we can each do different things. Yet the same God works in all of
us and helps us in everything we do."
