Art & Environment Committee
Function
Volunteers
from the parish use their creative and artistic talents to prepare the
worship environment for Sundays, feast days, sacramental celebrations, and
the liturgical seasons. The needed skills may include floral arrangement,
sewing, painting, design skills and a sense of beauty and art that can be
applied to our liturgy.
Structure
The
committee is loosely structured and works under the guidance and auspices
of the Liturgy Committee. Members meet to plan and prepare the environment
for a season or celebration as needed. They inform and update themselves
about liturgical arts through educational material and observing sacred
spaces.
Member Profile
Members
should have a sense of design, proportion and artistic appreciation or be
willing to learn and grow in these areas. Specific skills are needed
(mentioned above), as well as the support and work of anyone who loves the
liturgy and wishes to help express it in the most beautiful l way
possible. The committee works together as a group to bring forward the
best that the community has to offer.
Time Commitment
Time
commitment varies depending upon the celebration or season. Extra time is
required before the beginning of each liturgical season (Advent,
Christmas, Lent, Easter, summer, autumn, winter). Actual set-up and
preparation for each season takes several hours. Some tasks can be done
individually or at home, such as sewing. Some tasks, like flower
arranging, can be rotated among committee members throughout the season.
Term of Service
There is
no restriction to the term of service at this time. The parish is in need
of more volunteers to assist in this important and rewarding area of
ministry.

There are different ways to serve the same Lord,
and we can each do different things. Yet the same God works in all of
us and helps us in everything we do."
