Liturgy & Spirituality
Help maintain the appearance of the altar and launder small altar lines. Volunteers rotate monthly. About a half-hour of service is required each week during your month of rotation.
You can put your gifts for floral or interior design, painting or sewing at the service of our worship.
Parishioners gather in evening or daytime sessions to understand and explore the meaning of Scriptures for their life and faith.
In a weekly meeting we seek to deepen our contact with God a disciplined ancient method of meditation and reading of the Scripture.
This ministry is available in the convent chapel on Fridays, 9-10am and 3-8pm, and requires only your attentive presence.
Ministers to the Sick & Homebound
Help those who cannot be with us to feel connected and cared for by telephone calls and visits, bringing them the Eucharist, and praying with them if they wish. Family members may provide this service for their loved ones. Weekly visits are made to the local convalescent homes. Training and support are provided.
A group of parishioners joined together to receive and telephone out requests for prayer needs to other members.
Plays a crucial role in acting on the social justice dimensions of its overall mission by facilitating and enabling the participation of the entire parish community. Meets monthly.
Liturgical Ministry
Both adults and youth in fourth grade and older, help with preparations before Mass, assist the presider during the service, and lead the procession with the gifts. Training is provided for all.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW)
From September through June during the 9:30 Mass, adult volunteers gather the children in grades K through four and proclaim the Word of God in a language understandable and relevant to them. Training and support are provided.
Once a month, from September through June, the 9:30 Mass becomes a special Children’s Mass. Adult volunteers plan and implement the specific, child-oriented theme. Attend monthly, planning meetings and the Children’s Mass.
Share the bread and cup with the assembly at Eucharist.
Greeters and Ushers
Help to welcome, seat and handle practical details that make our worship flow smoothly and help the assembly feel at home. Open to men, women and teens.
Proclaim the Word of God in our worship. They prepare to minister by prayer, practice and reflection on Scripture.
Helps prepare and evaluate our worship for liturgical seasons, special feast and events. No previous training needed. Your creativity, ability to work on a team and openness to learning about the Rites and how symbols express and shape our life experiences are all that is required.
Sing at the 9:30 Mass. Practice in church on Wednesdays, 7:00pm-9pm.
Grades 3-8 sing at 9:30 am Mass once a month. Practice time Wednesdays, 3:25 - 4:30 p.m.
Sings the psalm and leads congregational singing for Masses. Meet in church at 6:30pm on Wednesdays or by appointment.
Vocalists
Occasionally needed for special school and religious education services, funerals and weddings.
Piano/Guitar
Play regularly for a particular liturgy, for school or religious education, or on an occasional basis (as a substitute for special services).
Brass/Woodwinds/Strings/Percussion
Play for special services or as a regular part of the choir.
Music Planning Committee
Meets seasonally to plan music for upcoming liturgy seasons. Requires reading liturgical commentary about the season, praying over Sunday Scriptures, and knowledge of musical choices available.
Faith Formation
Parents experienced in raising their children in faith help other parents or parents-to-be prepare to welcome and nurture a new baby in their family and the church family.
Christian Initiation:
Christian Initiation of Adults (CIA)
Adults enter the Catholic Church through a process of education, reflection, faith sharing, and celebration of the sacraments of initiation. Parishioners of committed faith form a supportive team to walk with those who embark on this challenging and enriching journey.
Christian Initiation of Children (CIC)
A similar process for children and youth (ages 7 through 17).
An enrichment group formed to invite women to learn about and grow in their Catholic faith. Women are encouraged to recognize and develop their individual spiritual gifts for the benefit of the entire Christian community. Women of Faith welcomes women of all ages who want to energize their relationship with God and with each other.
Share the love of Jesus and our faith with children of the parish. During the school year, teachers and helpers work in teams in the following programs: Pre-K and kindergarten, grades 1through 5, 6th grade and junior high. Lots of training, in-service and support are provided to volunteers.
Small Christian Communities
Groups of people gather on a regular basis to share their faith via a process of individuals disclosing their experiences of how God is active in their lives and the ways they respond to God.
Youth Ministry
Adult leaders: Confirmation, Youth Group, Liturgy, Music and Choir
Adults who enjoy the creative companionship of teens and are excited about sharing their faith in new and innovative ways are encouraged to join one of many adult teams.
Open to teens grades 9-12, meets Wednesdays from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. throughout the school year. We strive to address all levels of teen faith and development. Leadership training available for sophomores or older
High School Confirmation Process
Prepares teens for the sacrament of confirmation in a challenging, nurturing environment that explores personal faith within our larger community context. Meets approximately every other Sunday from 10:30 - 12:30
Communication, Community Building & Fellowship
Carnival Committee
Plan the annual parish carnival
On Sunday morning after the 9:30am and 11:30am Masses the opportunity for hospitality and fellowship is offered. Volunteers serve periodically as scheduled.
If you are able to help coach youngsters in basketball and track, they can use your services.
An independent fraternal group dedicated to charity and community service, helps our parish by preparing and serving regular pancake breakfasts and sponsoring fund raising events to provide tuition assistance for the school.
Designed by seniors for seniors, offers older members of the community activities and opportunities to interact socially and to respond to the special needs and concerns that arise at this time of life.
Parish Administration
Are finance or management skills your talent? This advisory group assists the pastor in the administration of parish finances and other related concerns.
Drawing on the wisdom of the community, members from all segments of the parish advise the pastor through clarification of the mission statement, development and implementation of goals.
Facilities Expansion Committee
Interested in helping the parish move ahead with building renovation and facilities expansion? We are in need of parishioners with skills in several areas: architecture/design, fundraising, group process, communication.
Parents take turns watching toddlers ages 1 to 3 during 9:30am, Sunday Mass in the school multi-purpose room. Stop by before or after the 9:30am Mass.
Are you good with figures and numbers? Meet Monday mornings to tally the Sunday contributions
Helping Hands/Funeral Ministry
Prepare food or help set up light refreshments for families in the parish hall or at their home following a funeral.
Connects us to the larger world by identifying and finding ways for the parish to support work of service organizations in need. Activities of this ministry change with needs of the surrounding area.
Help newcomers feel at home at St. Perpetua and acquaint them with parish life. This is a great way to meet new people, extend a hand of friendship, and draw them into our community.
Other Volunteer Opportunities
Kitchen Ministry
Representatives from various parish organizations who use the kitchen are scheduled to keep it clean. Plan to periodically spend about 30 minutes to put away items, check inventory, clean, etc.
Office Assistance
Occasionally we need help in the parish office with answering phones, office task or special mailings.
There are different ways to serve the same Lord, and we can each do different things. Yet the same God works in all of us and helps us in everything we do."
